History

Pastor Telsee began to hear the voice of God in the late 90’s beckoning him to a higher calling.  It was at that time Pastor Telsee knew that the Lord was calling him into the office of the Pastor.  In 2002, while stationed at Fort Lewis Washington, as God continued to deal with Pastor & Lady Telsee, the question arose, “where, when, and what will the ministry be called”?  Ironically, Lady Telsee was attempting to change her personalized license plate on her vehicle, and through searching the motor vehicle personal plate availability online, to her surprise, “True Joy” happened to be available.  The awesomeness of this at the time, she had no idea God was forming the name of their ministry.  Months later the Lord spoke to Lady Telsee clearly one morning at her workstation and uttered these words; “Healing & Restoration”.  With excitement she shared with her husband what the Lord had spoken.  It was then when The Lord gave Pastor Telsee to put “True Joy” in front of “Healing and Restoration” and they both agreed God had clearly spoken the name of their ministry and for sure it would bring great joy to the people of God.  The foundational scripture is John 15:11 “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you and that your joy may be full”.

The Telsee’s desire was to start ministry on the East Coast in the state of Maryland.  In 2003 Pastor Telsee was miraculously reassigned to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which was approximately 47 miles from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. 

After reuniting with Superintendent Robert W. Whitley, Pastor of Refuge Temple Ministries Church of God in Christ, and faithfully serving under him for a short period of time, God spoke to Pastor & Lady Telsee in the spring of 2003 to take a leap of faith and start a work for Him.  The Lord said, “…Upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it…” according to Matthew 16:18. 

Shortly after looking for a building, little did the Telsee’s know, God already made provision for a suitable location in the heart of the City of Aberdeen. Once entering the building, they knew instantly that was the place to begin ministry.  The Lord responded with a resounding “Yes” and gave a green light to go and “Build a Church He would bless”.  They continue to stand on “Where He guides, He will provide” according to Genesis 22: 8 & 14.

On September 7, 2003, Pastor and Lady Telsee, in obedience to God’s instructions, opened the doors of “True Joy Healing and Restoration Ministries, Incorporated.  On September 19, 2004 True Joy held its First Annual Church Anniversary Banquet.  The honorable Bishop Eugene V. Reeves, Presiding Prelate to the Province of St John and Pastor of New Life Anointed Ministries International, Woodbridge VA, installed Pastor and Lady Telsee as Pastor and Evangelist under the auspices of the International Community of Christian Churches.
