Five Pillars of True Joy Ministries, Inc
There are five distinct principles, referred to as “The Five Pillars of the Ministry”, that were divinely given to Pastor Telsee to serve as foundational truths for True Joy Ministries. They are CHARACTER, INTEGRITY, COMMITMENT, FAITHFULNESS, and LOVE. These standards have been established to set a precedent for excellence within the ministry. Therefore, they should be delicately interwoven into each leader’s psyche and leadership methodology as he/she strives to effectively guide their team.
Pillar #1- CHARACTER
What is character? It is combination of qualities or features that distinguishes one person, group, or thing from another. It is the sum of one’s distinctive traits, personality, and moral constitution. Character is what you are. No one is born with good character. It is not hereditary. Yet everyone, regardless of background, enters the world with the opportunity to become a person of exemplary character. Character has to be developed. Your character is defined by what you do, not what you say or believe. Good character requires doing the right thing, even when it is costly or risky. Simple put… good character is following in the footsteps and example of Jesus Christ and adhering the principles laid out in the Word of God. Character can be broken down into five distinctive values.
Trustworthiness: Be honest • don’t deceive, cheat or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal.
Respect:Treat others with respect • Be tolerant of differences • Use good manners• Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements
Responsibility:Do what you are supposed and expected to do • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your choices
Fairness: Play by the rules • Be open-minded; listen to others • Don’t take advantage of others • Don’t blame others carelessly
Caring: Be kind • Be compassionate and show you care • Express gratitude • Forgive others • Help people in need
Pillar #2- Integrity
Integrity is defined as a quality of being honest and up-right in character, 2. Condition of being complete. It also comprises the personal inner sense of "wholeness" deriving from honesty and consistent uprightness of character. The word integrity comes from the same Latin root as "integer," or whole number. Like a whole number, a person of integrity is undivided and complete. This means that a person of integrity acts according to their beliefs, not according to convenience. They are also consistent. There is no difference in the way they make decisions from situation to situation. Their principles do not vary at work, church, or home… in public or alone.
Because this individual must know who they are and what they value, the person of integrity takes time for self-reflection, so that the events, crises and seeming necessities of the day do not determine the course of their moral life. They may be courteous, even charming, but are never deceitful or unreliable. They never demean themselves with flattering behavior toward those they think might do them some good. They are trusted because they are known for who they are as an individual. In other words, what you see is what you get.
People without integrity are called "hypocrites" or "two-faced."
Pillar #3- Commitment
Commitment is to promise, pledge, or bind oneself to a certain course of action until it is completed. It also includes the effort a person puts into a task, and the loyalty they show to a person or organization. Being fully committed to specific task or group includes possessing the drive, discipline, and passion needed “to get things done”. Expressing your commitment to undertake, develop, and complete an endeavor, whether your expertise is requested or you volunteer your services, creates a legitimate basis for another person to rely upon you. Therefore, your commitment encompasses being dedicated, steadfast, reliable, unwavering, and devoted to the mission at hand. Above all, your primary personal commitment should to be God.
Pillar #4- Faithfulness
As one of the nine fruits of the Spirit, faithfulness is adhering firmly and devotedly, as to a person, cause, or idea; loyal. It primarily means to have a "firm persuasion" which is usually gained from having a conviction based upon hearing. Furthermore, being faithful entails steadfast commitment to a person or thing to which one is bound as by an oath or obligation or it is marked by showing a strong sense of duty or responsibility, as well as being conscientious and reliable.
Pillar #5- Love
Paul described love as follows: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails."
